Getting Around Tempe
One of the best forms of transportation in Tempe near ASU is the light rail. The light rail runs right through campus, with several stops along the way, including the University Drive/Rural stop, the Veterans Way/College stop, and the Mill Avenue/Third Street stop. From there, the light rail heads west and then north of the city of Phoenix. You can purchase your ticket at a farebox, select retail locations, or online. Another great way of getting around Tempe near ASU is by bus. The city has an extensive network of buses, including almost 60 local bus routes, as well as additional Express service and RAPID service buses that make limited stops. There are also neighborhood circulator buses that make a loop around various neighborhoods, stopping at the most popular places along the way. Bus tickets and passes can be purchased in the same way as you can purchase light rail tickets and passes.
Since Tempe is home to ASU, plenty of college students bike to and from school, work, and their other various activities. The city has one of the highest percentages of bicycle commuters in the country, so you know that it's easy and fun to bike in Tempe. There are lots of bike lanes, bike paths, and multi-use paths for you to use to get around the city and ASU. If you don't have your own bike, you can rent one from one of the many bike shops in the city.
You can also use taxis as a form of transportation in Tempe near ASU. Taxis are great for late nights after public transit has shut down, or for when you've got something heavy you're carrying, like shopping bags or luggage, and you need a ride directly to your doorstep.
